What my kids have broken edition of Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday
O.M.G.
Ok, so I have boys therefore I have surrendered myself to chaos, messes, LOUD voices, cuts bruises and broken things...I am one w/ the testosterone...(insert *ohm* here)
But lemme tell ya...they broke a window last night, in the big boys room...after they were TOLD to tone to knock off whatever wrestling competition they had going on...I was letting the dog out when I heard the smash of glass from above..and then heard the explosive rant from the Dad..ooooo boy....that was ugly...
The story we were given (I say story because I am not sure this is how it transpired..I have my doubts..there were some glances and looks exchanged that led me to not believe them...we shall see..I bought the tickets for the guilt trip last night...i'll let you know how they like it...) was that they were wrestling and Gavin's head was what made the glass shatter coz he tripped and ran into the window w/ it...
Gav has no cuts, no bumps or anything else that was suspect..
Now these windows are 80+ years old, so it is possible that he could have caused it to shatter by a simple bump..
but it had some force behind it...I dunno..
We will be getting a new pane of glass to replace that one..
Del is insistant that they pay for it themselves..and I concurr..it won't be a ton of money..uner 20 I am sure..
and they will assist him in installing said glass...
just like they cleaned up the floor to get any stray shards...

What else have my children broken?
Why THREE other windows in various manners..
one in the big boys room, that was only a crack tho..
and 2 storm door windows..both while screwing around..
Oh I am sorry, make that FIVE windows total...D broke a window on our porch a few summers ago by flinging a baseball bat and it randomly hit the window...

My god, I have my own wrecking crew. WTF?
maybe I should hire them out...

Dannion has had 2 broken arms....
Gav has had stitches...

It is simply amazing the chaos my children have caused...the wet floors (& dripping ceilings!)in the bathroom from bathing gone awry, the mud tracked in from outside, the wet windows outside from battles with the hose...

I know me and my sister never made this much mess. ever.
We didn't break shit or break ourselves...

HOW on earth did my grandmother do it w/ 9 kids? HOW??

Also, along the same lines of 9 kids..
WTF is up w/ the octuplets??
She has 6 other kids, and EVERY day there is a new twist to the tale..
She swore she wasn't getting assisatnce, yet she is getting food stamps, and 3 of her kids get disability...
Her mother, my goodness, she was pretty loose lipped about the whole thing......wonder if that had anything to do with how her daughter turned out...
I hope those babies end up OK, they are simply adorable..
and the fertility Dr?? sounds fishy to me there...
and she has a PUBLICIST!!! OMG! and is feilding book deals and TV show offers...way to make a living from your kids..
sheesh.
seems pretty convienient...

It is going to be 60* here today...w00t!

OK, I am going to shower and get ready for work (I can so do my hair at work! heh I love that!!)
I have 3 manicures today...yehawww!

My kids doing Halloween Old School

Yes, my children decided to go Old School for halloween..*sniff* warms a mothers heart when they want to go as her favorite 80's horror characters!
Freddy & Jason (Freddy always was my favorite of all the horror peeps..he was not only scary, but sarcastically funny! I heart sarcasm!!)
They did very very well..despite one of Freddy's claws being broken & lost one mere hour before we were set to leave...daddy got some duct tape (if you can't duck it,fuck it as the saying goes..heh) and saved the day (he was impaired, but we chose to look at it as he was injured in a pre trick or treating battle w/ Jason...lol)
for your viewing pleasure

CREEPY family resemblances

My eldest looks like me, this I know, and have know for a long time..
sometimes, however, it smacks me in the face!
LOOK at him in 6th grade and me in 6th grade..
just plain weird.
Me in 6th grade (please excuse the misguided fashion..it was 1986 and I was painfully unaware of how bad I looked..lol..)

Growing, changing and sadness

OK, so I am not usually a weepy mom....I rarely am weepy over my kids growth and changing...lost teeth make me smile..birthdays make me think of them as infants and their births and always makes me feel warm and fuzzy..I love seeing them reach milestones in their development..
BUT for some unknown reason, when they start school, it makes me weepy...
This year the Big Boy is going to Middle School..THAT is part of it..he looks SO grown up..so much like a pre-teen..and I am learning to cherish his openness while it is still here..his willingness to talk to me, his willingness to hug and snuggle with me..I know it will be short lived, and in a few years he will be a sullen teenager..not giving me more than monosyllabic words and grunts ;)

I sent him off 40 minutes ago to his new bus stop, alone...into the BIG world of Middle School...on the bus w/ kids 3/4 yrs older than him...to a school he has only been briefly introduced to..
It is so hard to let go sometimes..to let them be grown ups..to do things on their own...this is definitely one of those times.

Bleh

Ya know, PMS sucks donkey balls.
I am having a bad day...
My PMS lasts 1-2 weeks out of the month, depending on my hormones I guess..
It can be pretty bad..lately it has been OK..but I feel a bad couple of weeks coming on...

I took the kids school shopping..not fun.I spent close to 200 bucks and still need to find the oldest a back pack and shoes..
but they are outfitted w/ 2 new packs of undies and socks each...
and a few clothing items..
pencils and a binder..

It was just exhausting today...Gav was whiney...Dannion was helpful tho..I was impressed..
so I need to go tomorrow or sunday to get the big one a bigger back pack..his one from last year is NOT going to be big enough..I know it....

We went to the middle school yesterday and did a small tour..it was fun..its so much bigger..but all the core classes are in the same hall way as all of the other 6th graders..so that is nice..

I am off to watch football practice...taking a book...

SCHOOL in *5* DAYS

It may be wrong to be SO excited to see the kids go back to school...BUT I am just carrying forward a LONG tradition of summer weary moms...excited to see the return of backpacks, pencils & notebooks in the stores...and counting the days, nay, MINUTES until school starts again...
Will the joy wear off?
Yeah, the endless days of waking early, the homework arguments..(oye vey the homework- I KNOW I hate my kids homework more than I hated mine..and I.HATED.mine...A LOT)
In all seriousness, its not been a bad summer..just alot of IM BORED and The Spawn(UGH)
my friends, I leave you with the BEST EVER back to school commercial..enjoy!

First Football game!

How fun..the first 3 hours anyways...hour 4 had me up and stretching...then to the concession stand..then back to the bleachers (ow) hour 5 I was playing a game on my cell phone..and hour 6 I was just plain worn...
got to see my boys play for a grand total of Oh, 2 minutes?
rofl..not that I expected more..you gotta earn time on the field..
Gav got to hold the bench down ;)
It looks like it was about to make a break for it a few times, but he persisted..lol..and kept it firmly attached to the ground!
They played well and both of their age divisions won..
they both have some real talent on their teams!
I got their team/ individual pictures, well one anyways, Dannion had to have his retaken for some reason?

we are SO investing in some stadium seats..my ass is STILL sore...and I am taking my own food and drink..and possibly more entertainment..for my ADD addled brain..

and let me say, midget flag football is ADORABLE to watch...just adorable..I wanted to go squeeze some little faces they were SO cute...hehehe
and the little cheerleaders?
OMG..way WAY beyond cute...

my camera had dead batteries (!!!) and I will get pics next time...
suffice to say, this is my LIFE for the next 6 weeks..arghhhh

Teacher assignments!

Well, we got the teacher assignments today!
Thankfully, The Spawn is NOT in Gav's class...and even more thankfully, his bestest buddy Tristan IS in his class!
and they both got the NEW third grade teacher...I told Del that I bet she is some cute young thing, and how HE will be attending the parent teacher conferences exclusively...lol...
School starts 8/25..we have school shopping to do this weekend, and football game for the boys...and who knows what else..

overheard tonight at football practice

Kid was telling his mom about a play he made..

Kid- I so ran and tackled both of them, I hit them hard.(long pause)
It felt REALLY good...

I was chuckling to myself..lol..

My own Gav made a good hit today..and he bloodied his nose...not too bad...but it was sort of seeping..ew.

and then a kid on Dannions team was in a 'pile up' and BROKE his LEG...
O.M.G.
ambulance and all were there..
Dannion said he heard him scream...I can only imagine!!

The boys and football

so the boys started football yesterday...
I watched about 30 minutes worth of practice..and let me say, in Gavin's age group (8-9) watching those coaches direct the children was entertaining..it was like watching someone trying to herd chipmunks..
They were trying to teach them plays...which always confuses me..but then again, I am a girl..and well, that stuff is just beyond me sometimes...
Mostly they just did physical drills..he he..they ran and ran and ran some more!!
they practiced tossing a football between 2 players..
Dannion is in the 11-12 YO team...he actually had some grass stuck on his helmet..lol..so I daresay his practice was a little more intense..
but they both enjoyed themselves...but they were drenched in sweat..OMG....right into the shower with them!
I will get some pictures today..

and when they are all on the field-you CANNOT tell them apart...I am thinking pink socks on mine to tell them apart..lmao...they were NOT thrilled w/ that suggestion...hehehe

euphemisms for genitalia

OK so my boys are 11 and 8...and typical BOYS..oye vey..are they ever
well, the other day we were driving to a friends house and all of a sudden Gav (8) says, as we are passing a certain point, that is where I fell and hurt my dollar and 2 quarters..
thank GOD I was going slow coz I almost wrecked laughing..(after I of course said in a motherly tone 'THAT is not nice to say Gav' *snicker*)
DOLLAR and TWO QUARTERS?
can I FALL down and laugh as if I am having a seizure???
I have also heard them call it their 'cranberries' and twig and 2 nuts..etc and so forth..

and I WONDER why I have 30% gray hair..

god bless hair color..
